Hunting Season has begun. Has your ATV been sitting since last hunting season? Is the battery dead? Did some of our little furry friends (mice) build a nest in your air box? Will it start? Here at Barnhart’s our service department is still in full swing trying to stay caught up…so don’t wait until the week before you want to hit the woods and hope to get your ATV serviced. Call me now and make an appointment ahead of time and beat the rush. If your ATV does start just fine right now, here are some things to check before you try and drag that big buck in :
- Check air filter (air box clean, filter well oiled)
- Will the tires hold air?
- Check engine oil level and condition
- Check final drive fluid levels and condition (drive chain adjusted and lubed)
- Check for torn axle boot
- Check all brakes and controls
- Check lighting
- Check battery condition
- Check battery terminals (tight, no corrosion)
- Check or replace sparkplug
- Check nuts, bolts and fasteners
- Check winch operation (if you don’t have one, don’t you think its about time to get one?)
